Statement of Purpose

This policy is being implemented in order to pursue HMGCC's commitment to treat all of its employees and prospective employees equally and to provide its staff, whether working in the UK or overseas, with a working environment which is free from discrimination, victimisation, harassment and bullying. HMGCC does not tolerate discrimination on the grounds of gender, marital status, part-time employment status, age, race, colour, disability, perceived or actual sexual orientation, or perceived or actual religion or belief. HMGCC encourages diversity in the workplace, and is committed to the creation and maintenance of a climate in which all our people are treated fairly in relation to merit and ability.

Policy Statement

  • Employees, whether working in the UK or overseas, will have equality of opportunity in all areas of employment. All decisions, such as promotion, postings, training, career development will be based on performance and potential and will be free from prejudice and bias.
  • Employees, whether working in the UK or overseas, will have a working environment free from discrimination, bullying, harassment and victimisation.
  • Employees will support one another and treat each other with respect and consideration, whatever his/her background or status within HMGCC.
  • HMGCC will not discriminate on grounds of gender, marital status, part-time employment status, age, race, colour, disability, perceived or actual sexual orientation, or perceived or actual religion or belief.
  • Trained Bullying and Harassment Counsellors will be available to assist individuals who feel they are being bullies, harassed, victimised or otherwise discriminated against.
  • All allegations of discrimination, victimisation, harassment and bullying will be investigated fairly, promptly and in confidence. Individuals who, in good faith, bring a grievance either under this policy or otherwise in relation to an equal opportunities matter, or support or assist others to do so, will not be disciplined, dismissed or otherwise victimised for having done so.
  • Disciplinary action will be taken against any employee who is found to have committed an act of unlawful discrimination, victimisation, harassment or bullying, which could result in the employee's dismissal. Allegations of discrimination which are not made in good faith will also be considered a disciplinary matter.
