I joined HMGCC six years ago as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
One of the best parts about working here is the wide variety of projects. Every one of them is different in terms of requirements, complexity and timescales and you take ownership from the initial concept through to the delivered product.
Although it's an expanding organisation, it's still small enough to allow a hands-on approach when seeing a project through.
Over the years I have been involved in a number of design projects that have no easy solutions. I like the fact they need a lot of lateral thinking to solve them. It's very fulfilling to then deliver something that works and will serve a useful purpose.
I work in a small team and it's very easy to get involved in projects that really interest me. As HMGCC is made up of people performing many different disciplines (such as electronics, electrical engineering, project management, and so on) I've also picked up a useful appreciation of these areas along the way.
The range of engineering tools and equipment here means that you can design some very complex and elaborate parts if the job needs it.
Training and support is excellent and you're encouraged to develop your skills and keep an eye on new technology.
The type of work that HMGCC does is unique and for me, this continues to keep it interesting.
