Fashion and film experts among attendees at national security workshop
Innovators from industries including film and TV, fashion, textiles and medicine joined together with HMGCC experts for a two-day workshop in Milton Keynes.
The sandpit event is the first of its kind to have been held by the HMGCC Co-Creation team, enabling round-table discussions with representatives from different disciplines exploring a specific set of national security problems.
The subject under the spotlight was a recently released Co-Creation challenge examining latest research into the wearing of inconspicuous technology, and exploring how devices could be wearable, comfortable and flexible, without interrupting function.
Just under 30 visitors attended this month’s event, including representatives from government, academia and industry.
The Co-Creation team has been keen to attract applications from sectors which may not have traditionally had much crossover with national security work in the past – as solutions can sometimes be sourced from unexpected places.
A keynote speech to start the first day was presented by our Director of Product and Engineering Simon Fabri.
Simon said: “This sandpit event offered us the perfect setting for inspiration, collaboration and, above all, fresh thinking. We are bringing together people from multiple disciplines and industries to come up with genuinely novel approaches. We hope it also helped all those taking part to generate new connections and partnerships, transcending the duration of the event itself.”
