Senior Cabinet Office minister Pat McFadden made a visit to HMGCC last week, during which he was given a tour of our Hanslope Park facilities.
The visit showcased HMGCC’s cutting edge technologies, its counter threat capabilities and the way in which investment is ploughed into keeping the UK ahead of its adversaries.
The minister, who holds the title of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, was given a closer look at our important work for national security and how tech advancements are being used to keep the country safe.
As well as a glimpse of facilities such as our manufacturing centre, he was given a series of operational technology talks from across the organisation, he met our leadership team and heard more about HMGCC Co-Creation – an important front door enabling outside industry and academia to work on national security tech challenges.
The minister learned more about how our work with outside industry is helping build and support further growth in the Oxford-Cambridge tech corridor, highlighted earlier this year by Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
HMGCC CEO George Williamson said: “We were delighted to host Pat McFadden on his first visit to see the breadth of our impressive facilities here at Hanslope Park.
“As so much of our work is secret, the effort we put into developing and constantly improving our facilities and capabilities can easily go under the radar. To be able to offer first hand insight into just how we are using tech to counter potential adversary threats is a powerful and important message.”
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. Pat McFadden, said: “For 87 years, HMGCC has helped the UK stay ahead of our adversaries - developing cutting edge tools and technologies that keep the public safe.
“It was brilliant to meet some of the remarkable staff deploying their engineering skills to counter the threat posed by terrorists, cyber-criminals and malign foreign powers.
“In an unstable and volatile world, the technology and expertise that can be found at Hanslope Park matters more than ever.”
